Islay Connections is a community-led initiative rooted in the heart of Islay. Run by local trustees, our aim is to connect people, services, and ideas to support wellbeing across the island. We believe in working collaboratively to create lasting, positive change for our community.

We focus on community-driven projects that bring people together and improve quality of life. Current areas of work include:
RITA
Partnering with Islay Hospital and Gortanvogie Residential Home to support people with memory loss through reminiscence and interactive therapy.
Journeys for Health and Wellbeing
Researching the impact of travel for medical treatment off-island and exploring solutions to make the experience easier for individuals and families.
Islay First Responders
Supporting the development of a volunteer network to assist in emergencies and provide essential first aid before ambulance arrival.
Our approach
We listen to our community, gather evidence, and advocate for solutions that make sense for Islay. Whether it’s improving access to services or bringing people together, we’re here to help build a stronger, more connected island.
